HOW TO BOOK

​​

  • Before you book a service, you must do the following:

  • Text Martha by DM, SMS, or WhatsApp at 503-706-8641. Please, NO PHONE CALLS

  • I will go over what you will need for a preliminary consultation. Please have this website available.

  • After you complete the following, we will have a preliminary consultation via text messa​ge or DM in which I will ask for the following information, so please have these ready.

​

  1. Photos of the service area, for example:

    • For Eyebrows & Eyeliner Procedures

      • Send me three photos of your brows (see below)​

        • Please have someone take three well-focused photos of you in good lighting. Selfies generally do not provide enough detail. Here is what I need (see examples, below):

          • a photo of your face from the front​

          • a photo of each brow from the side

          • make sure you have no makeup on 

          • the best time to take these photos is in the morning. 

            • first, wash your face, but apply no product whatsoever

            • wait about an hour before taking the photos

          • I really want an accurate representation of your skin, including how large your pores or any wrinkles are, how oily or dry your skin is, your natural skin color (from very light to very dark), and your skin tone (cool, warm, neutral).  And, of course, I want to see your natural brows. If you have preexisting brow tattoo, that's fine. Be sure to tell me in case it isn't obvious from the photos. It's important to know that I can't tattoo over pre-existing tattoo in every case.

        • Send these to me in a message via DM, WhatsApp, or SMS to 503-706-8641.

    • For Lip Procedures

      • Send me one good photo of your full lips, closed (see below)​

      • Please have someone take a well-focused photos of you in good lighting. Selfies generally do not provide enough detail. Here is what I need (see example, below):

      • a photo of your full lips, mouth closed

      • make sure you have no makeup on 

      • I really want an accurate representation of your natural lip color, outer border, and dryness.  If you have preexisting lip tattoo, that's fine. Be sure to tell me in case it isn't obvious from the photos.  It's important to know that I can't tattoo over pre-existing tattoo in every case.

      • Send these to me in a message via DM, WhatsApp, or SMS to 503-706-8641.

  2. Medical Intake Information. For this, please do the following:
    1. Conduct the Skin Type Tissue Test. You will need this information for your Medical Intake Form.
    2. Have the confidential medical intake form filled out, either the printed or electronic version (see Policies & Forms). 

    3. View the services currently on special (below) Once we've established contact, we will discuss via text which procedure might be best for you. Not everyone is a perfect candidate for microblading, for example.​

    4. I MUST APPROVE YOUR APPLICATION AND PHOTOS BEFORE YOU CAN BOOK.

Additional Required and Useful Information

​

​

  • The client's cell phone number is required to book

    • Please ensure​ the number provided belongs to the client and not a friend or family member, as I must communicate with the client directly. If language is an issue, please let me know. Si habla español, clic «espanol» del ménu, arriba.

    • All client interactions are done via text, including preappointment communications and treatment follow-up

    • Clients are asked to confirm their appointment by clicking on a link provided in a text message 48 hours in advance. This text comes from a "short code" number, such as 89985.

      • Clients not confirming within 48 hours may have their appointment cancelled  and will forfeit the nonrefundable deposit.

  • A credit card is required to book

  • A nonrefundable deposit will be charged against your card upon acceptance of your appointment request; you will be charged the balance at your appointment. The deposit amount ranges from $25 to $150, depending on the service selected

  • Please read the Before Your Service information to ensure a safe service; this information is also at  Policies & Forms

  • You are responsible for understanding and following all of the policies for your service.

  • Print the aftercare instructions and bring them with you to the appointment

  • Please Note:

    • 48 hours' notice is required for cancellation or changing your appointment time. Your deposit is nonrefundable even if you cancel or change your time 48 hours or more in advance, for any reason.

    • Clients cancelling or changing their appointment time fewer than 48 hours in advance, or not showing up will be charged the full amount of the service. This is because when you book an appointment, that time slot is unavailable to other potential clients; I am holding it just for you :-)

  • Be prepared!​

    • In order to conduct the treatment in a safe and effective manner, it's critical that you are adequately prepared for your appointment.​

      • Please print, read, and fill out the intake form and aftercare instructions (see Policies & Forms)

      • Clients who are not adequately prepared or who have not followed the instructions found in the Before Your Service forfeit their deposit and may have their appointment cancelled and may be charged the full amount of the service

  • ARRIVE ON TIME!​

    • In order to measure and design your new look, apply anesthetic, and go over necessary forms, I need the full time allotted (up to 4+ hours, depending on the situation) for the appointment, so it's important that you arrive on time

    • Your appointment may be cancelled and you may be charged the full amount for the service if you are more than 15 minutes late. Please text me at 503-706-8641 if you are running late.

    • PARKING:

      • Allow at least half an hour to find parking for longer services, especially if you have an SUV - or take transit or Lyft or similar service

        • Unfortunately, parking in the Pearl District is becoming more and more difficult to find, particularly because, due to all of the ongoing construction, construction workers' vehicles are taking up more and more spaces

        • Thus, I strongly recommend using Lyft or a similar service if at all possible.

        • Two streetcar lines (the A & NS northbound) run directly in front of Sola, stopping at 10th & Glisan, across the street; the B & NS southbound stop just one block away, on 11th & Glisan)

      • There is on-street 2-hour metered parking for shorter services like consultations and lash lift & tint

      • Longer term parking is unavailable at metered street locations, and you will not be able to leave during the service to feed the meter; you are best off parking in a lot or structure

      • Clients with SUVs may have difficulty parking in a surface lot, so look for a structure instead

        • Parking structures or lots may be found at:

Because microblading is created by hair-thin strokes and does not deposit much pigment into the skin, it is not well suited for everyone. As of now, one of the biggest problems with this procedure is that the fine, hairlike strokes blur in oily skin. The treatment also is not advised for clients with large pores or deep wrinkles.

**Note: I cannot overemphasize the importance of your having "normal" or mildly oily/mildly dry skin

Microblading alone is done with a manual tool and does not insert much pigment into the skin. Therefore, it is not well suited for everyone. ​ However, if you add shading, you will get a longer lasting results. Although the strokes might blur, you will have shading from either a manual or machine process.

For this technique, I use a special needle cartridge to create a brow that looks like you have brow powder on, with an ombré effect at the head and the top.  This procedure results in a more pixelated effect, versus the regular Ombré Brows, which are more saturated. You'll be charged a nonrefundable a $50 deposit upon booking. Touch-up is $225 and added later, booked at initial appt & requires a small deposit.  See Policies & Forms on the menu bar.

*All lip clients must begin a preventative course of L-Lysine 1 week in advance. If you have ever had labial herpes (cold sores, canker sores), you must consult your physician for an antiviral ahead of time.

​

**Note: Not everyone is a candidate for this service, particularly those with significant hyperpigmentation

​

​For this technique, I use a special needle cartridge and stroke technique to create a lip that color that will help define your lips as separate from the rest of your facial skin, but will end up almost translucent. This procedure results in a more pixelated effect, versus the regular lip tattoo, which is more saturated. 

​

Any kind of lip tattoo requires more planning and care than other types of cosmetic tattoo. There is a significant risk of triggering an outbreak of Herpes Simplex I (sometimes also called canker or cold sores). Many people have this virus from childhood and are completely unaware of it. In addition, clients who've had lip filler within 3 months tend to have excessive swelling. For these reasons, clients should plan on coordinating this procedure with medication their physician can prescribe, as described on the Medical Intake form. Also, for 1-2 weeks, you will need to eat and drink carefully and avoid kissing. So, post-procedure planning is important, too.

You'll be charged a nonrefundable a $50 deposit upon booking. A $225 touch-up is added later, booked at initial appt & requires a small deposit.  See Policies & Forms on the menu bar.

​FOR ANY SKIN TYPE! For this technique, I use a special needle cartridge machine movements to create a highly pixelated eyeliner that moves in toward the center of the eyelid like eye shadow.  I still implant pigment in  the lash line and can even give you a classic eyeliner style to go with this look, but the essence of the look is the eye shadow-like quality. We can add brown  or a variety of other "eyeshadow" colors in with the black pixels , such as green, blue, or violet, depending on your skin tone. You'll be charged a nonrefundable a $50 deposit upon booking. $225 touch-up is added later, booked at initial appt & requires a small deposit.  See Policies & Forms on the menu bar.

Not recommended if you plan on getting a brow tattoo of any kind within the next several months.

I use Elleebana Brow Henna,  a natural alternative to tinting that is filled with anti-oxidants, a vitamin complex and hydrolysed proteins. This helps to strengthen and restore brow hair growth and improves the condition of the hair. Not only does the henna tint the brow hairs with a color that lasts 6 weeks - much longer than regular brow tint -  but it also serves as a kind of temporary tattoo, in that it stains the skin, lasting anywhere from 2 to 14 days. Service includes a brow shaping.

For the Lash Lift & Tint, I use Elleebana lifting products and Belmacil tint.

However, this is considered a permanent tattoo (meaning 3-4 years before you need a color boost), and it is a very specific design that may or may not be your personal preference.  This design also tends to be darker than other designs, so it's great if you tend to like a darker brow, that lightens out (ombré) at the head.

​FOR CLIENTS WITH EXISTING BROW HAIR! ​ This main part of this service is done entirely by machine, making it appropriate for all skin types. It's important that you have enough of your own brow hair so that the microbladed strokes appear to blend in with what you have. This is also considered a permanent tattoo (meaning 3-4 years before you need a color boost), but you will want the hairstrokes, which are semi-permanent, to be updated earlier. Also, it is a very specific design that may or may not be your personal preference.  This design also tends to be darker than other designs, so it's great if you tend to like a darker brow, that lightens out (ombré) at the head.
